How Much Does It Cost to Hire a Developer in India?

How Much Does It Cost to Hire a Developer in India?

At TechieBall, a dedicated developer in India typically costs USD 2,400 to 7,200 per month, and hourly work costs USD 15 to 45 per hour. Fixed-price projects are quoted per project. Where you land in those ranges depends on the skills you need, the seniority of the developer, and how long you hire for. This guide explains what drives the price, what else to budget for, and how to estimate your own cost before you ask for a quote.

If you would rather get a number for your own project, tell us what you need and we will reply within 24 hours with matched developers and a quote in your currency. You can also chat with us on WhatsApp (opens in a new tab).

Quick answers

  • Dedicated developer (full-time): USD 2,400 to 7,200 per month, billed monthly.
  • Hourly: USD 15 to 45 per hour, billed by timesheet.
  • Fixed-price project: quoted per project after we understand the scope, paid by milestone.
  • What moves the price most: skills, seniority, team size, how long you hire, and how clear your scope is.
  • What else to budget for: your own management time, design, testing, hosting and third-party services, and maintenance after launch.

These are TechieBall's published rates. Other companies price differently, so compare like for like: the same skills, the same hours, and what is included.

The three ways to pay for a developer

ModelRateBest forHow you are billed
Dedicated developerUSD 2,400 to 7,200 per monthOngoing product work that keeps changingMonthly
HourlyUSD 15 to 45 per hourFixes, maintenance, small featuresBy timesheet
Fixed-price projectQuoted per projectA clear scope with an end dateBy milestone

Dedicated developer

A full-time developer works only on your project, joins your stand-ups and tools, and is billed monthly. It is the best value when you have steady work for several months, because you are not paying for gaps and the developer learns your product deeply.

Hourly

You book hours when you need them and pay for the time used, with timesheets. It suits small tasks, bug fixes, and workloads that rise and fall.

A full-time month is about 160 hours. At USD 15 to 45 per hour, that is USD 2,400 to 7,200, the same range as the monthly dedicated rate. So choose between the two by how steady your work is, not by the headline price. If you need a developer most of the month, a dedicated developer is simpler. If you need a few hours now and then, hourly is cheaper.

Fixed-price project

You agree one price and one timeline for a defined scope and pay by milestone. We do not publish a project price, because two projects with the same name can differ a lot. A quote depends on the features, the number of screens and integrations, the platforms (web, iOS, Android), and how much design is needed. A clear brief gives a more accurate price, and anything outside the agreed scope is quoted separately before work starts.

What changes the price

  1. Skills. Web development with a common stack costs differently from specialised work such as AI agents, mobile apps in two platforms, or legacy systems such as ColdFusion.
  2. Seniority. A senior full-stack engineer who can design the system and review other people's code costs more than a junior developer who needs direction. Ask who will actually do the work.
  3. Team size. A team costs more than one developer, but it is faster and covers more skills at once.
  4. How long you hire. Longer commitments are easier to plan and often easier to price.
  5. How clear your scope is. The vaguer the brief, the more a provider has to guess, and guesses are added to the price. A one-page brief saves money.
  6. Hours and time zone. Working late to cover a long overlap with the USA is a different arrangement from a UAE day, so agree the hours when you ask for a price.

Worked examples

These are simple arithmetic on the published ranges above. They are illustrations, not quotes. Your real number depends on the skills and seniority you choose.

ScenarioCalculationRange in USD
One dedicated developer for 6 months6 months at USD 2,400 to 7,20014,400 to 43,200
A team of 3 for 3 months9 developer-months at USD 2,400 to 7,20021,600 to 64,800

In Saudi riyals and UAE dirhams, which are fixed to the US dollar, one month of a dedicated developer is about SAR 9,000 to 27,000 or AED 8,800 to 26,400. We invoice in USD, SAR, AED, or INR.

Costs people forget to budget for

The developer's rate is not the whole cost of a software project. Plan for:

  • Your own time. Someone on your side has to give feedback, answer questions, and make decisions each week. A project stalls without it.
  • Design. If you do not have designs, you need a UI/UX designer before or alongside the developers.
  • Testing. QA catches problems before your customers do. Ask whether it is included or extra.
  • Hosting and third-party services. Servers, domains, email and SMS, payment gateways, maps, and AI model usage are paid to those providers, not to the developers.
  • Maintenance after launch. Software needs updates, fixes, and security patches. Hourly work or a small retained team is a common way to cover it.
  • Changes. Once people use the product, they ask for changes. Keep some budget for the next version.

How to get a more accurate price

  1. Write a one-page brief: the goal, the users, the must-have features, and any systems it must connect to.
  2. Split must-haves from nice-to-haves so a first version can launch sooner and cost less.
  3. Ask for the same details from every provider: who does the work, their seniority, what is included, and what is billed extra.
  4. Start small. A first milestone or one developer lets you judge the team before you commit more budget.
  5. Check the contract. Make sure it covers an NDA, ownership of the code, and what happens if you want to end it. Our guide to hiring developers from India lists the safety steps.

Is the cheapest quote the best?

Not usually. A very low price can mean a junior developer working alone, no code review, no testing, or a scope that will grow once work starts. Rework and delays often cost more than the saving. Look at the people, the process, and what is included, not only the rate, and do not skip the checks in our checklist for hiring developers for a UAE business.

Cost by market

The rates above are the same wherever you are. What changes is the currency and the working hours. Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to hire a developer in India?

At TechieBall, a dedicated developer typically costs USD 2,400 to 7,200 per month and hourly work costs USD 15 to 45 per hour. The exact figure depends on the skills and seniority. Fixed-price projects are quoted after we understand the scope.

Is it cheaper to hire a developer in India than locally?

It is often lower, but it depends on the skills, seniority, and your local market, so compare real quotes for your own project instead of assuming. Also compare what is included, such as code review, testing, and backup cover.

Should I pay hourly or monthly?

Choose monthly (a dedicated developer) when you have steady work for several months, and hourly when the work is occasional or changes from week to week. For the same hours, the two cost about the same, so the choice is about how steady your workload is.

Can I get a fixed price for my project?

Yes. We scope the work, agree a price and a timeline, and you pay by milestone. A clear brief gives a more accurate price, and extra work outside the scope is quoted before it starts.

What is not included in the developer's rate?

Costs paid to other providers, such as hosting, domains, payment gateways, email and SMS, and AI model usage, are separate. Ask any provider whether design, testing, and project management are included or extra.

What currency will I be billed in?

We invoice in USD, SAR, AED, or INR, monthly for dedicated developers and by timesheet for hourly work. The riyal and the dirham are fixed to the US dollar, so those conversions are stable.

Is there a minimum commitment?

You can start with one developer or a fixed-price first project and add or reduce the team as the work changes. Ask for the notice period in the contract so you know how to scale down.
